An email was sent on 20 October 2021 informing about a ban on the sale of single-use plastics in the Republic of Slovenia and will be subsequently required in all EU countries.
As of 6 September 2021, a new law entered into force in Slovenia Ban the placing on the market of certain single-use plastic products and innovations in the labelling of certain other plastic products.
In order to reduce pollution in Europe's seas, waters and coasts, the the sale of the following plastic products is prohibited:
- cutlery (forks, knives, spoons, chopsticks);
- Plates;
- straws;
- cotton swabs;
- drink stirrers;
- rods for fixing and supporting the balloons;
- food containers and cups made of expanded polystyrene;
- Oxo-degradable plastic products.
The regulation also includes mandatory product labellingwhich must be clearly visible, legible and indelible on the packaging or directly on the product.
Labelling informs consumers about proper waste management, harmful environmental impacts and the presence of plastics in the product.
Mandatory labelling plastic products applies to:
- hygiene products (sanitary napkins, tampons and tampon applicators);
- moisturising wipes;
- tobacco products with filters;
- Drink cups.
