On 9 November 2021, an email was sent about a ban on the sale of plastic products with bamboo fibres in the Czech Republic.

In view of the measures adopted by the European Union, plastic food contact products containing bamboo fibers (hot drink cups, baby dishes, jugs, etc.) are not allowed on the Czech market from 1 September 2021.

In addition to bamboo fibers, melamine-formaldehyde resin, which has not been approved as a material that can be used in the manufacture of these products, is added as a binder to plastic products.

This step was taken in order to identify the risks involved in using these products. In particular, the gradual release of the dangerous toxic substances formaldehyde and melamine at temperatures above 70° and with repeated use.

In view of the above, if you still have such products listed on MALL.cz, they should be recalled as soon as possible.
