As we have you informed 14. 6. 2022On 26 January 2022, a regulation on the ban on the sale of single-use plastics and the labelling of certain plastic products came into force in the Czech Republic.

In order to reduce pollution in Europe's seas, waters and coasts, the the sale of the following plastic products is prohibited:

  • cutlery (forks, knives, spoons, chopsticks);
  • plates;
  • straws;
  • cotton buds;
  • drink stirrers;
  • rods to hold and support the balloons;
  • food containers and cups made of expanded polystyrene;
  • oxo-degradable plastic products.

The regulation also contains mandatory labelling of productswhich will be clearly visible, legible and indelible on the packaging or directly on the product.

The label informs the consumer about the appropriate way to dispose of the waste, the adverse environmental impacts and the presence of plastics in the product.

Mandatory marking plastic products apply to:

  • hygiene products (sanitary towels, tampons and tampon applicators);
  • wet wipes;
  • tobacco products with filters;
  • beverage cups.

In view of the above and in case you have any of the prohibited products in your offer, you must Download the products immediately from the website or mark them according to the instructions by 30.6.2022 at the latest.

All of the above is the content of Directive 2019/904 of the European Parliament and of the Council, specifically Articles 5 and 7.

A ban on the sale of single-use plastics will gradually be required in other EU countries, if this has not already been done.
