How categories, parameters, values and category conditions work

Manual Input, Heureka XML Feed, MALL XML Feed, Products - Setup and Management, API

In the following article you will find a description of how the categories and their conditions work, the parameters for each category and the parameter values, and where to find this detailed information.

Important:
Placing a product in the right category is a prerequisite for successful sales on MALL/Mimovrste.

Categories, parameters, values

Category and parameter set

Our categories are pre-defined and each has its own unique ID. For each category ID we have an associated parameter set that contains additional parameters (used for searching) and may contain mandatory parameters (sorting conditions) that sort products into subcategories.

Important:
It is only possible to use the set of parameters defined by us for a given category. If an unknown parameter is added, the system will evaluate it as an error.

Example:
The shirt category has a unique ID (NA073) and is divided into 2 sub-categories women's and men's. The ID represents the main shirt category and only the sorting condition or mandatory parameter DETERMINATION = women's / DETERMINATION = men's is added. So for this example, using the category ID and 1 mandatory parameter, the product will be classified into the correct sub-category.

Important:
The category conditions need to be filled in properly, if only one of the conditions is used (for example only the category ID) the product may not be included at all and in this case it will not be displayed on the website.

Parameters and parameter values

Parameters are numeric, where only a numeric value is filled in and have a predefined unit (e.g. kg, l, ml, etc.). The second group consists of alphanumeric parameters where the value is in the form of text. Each alphanumeric parameter also contains a set of our defined values that can be used.

Important:
It is necessary to use our defined value and its exact wording. Custom values are not allowed due to the consistency of the display of values on our website. For more information on the validity of values and searching with these values, please see here.

If the alphanumeric parameter has no defined values, you enter your own relevant value.

Using parameters, the customer can better filter the search results. The parameters are located on our website directly in the list of products within a category or subcategory.

Important:
If you cannot find a suitable parameter, insert the information in the long product description.

We recommend filling in as many parameters as possible.

Creating variant products using parameters and their values

You can also create product variants using parameters and their values.

Example:
Women's T-shirt has different colors and sizes. It is therefore necessary to create variations based on these attributes. It is necessary to assign the Size parameter, the Color parameter and their values to each variant. Then mark the parameter as variant. Then the variant product will be created correctly.

Important:
Up to 2 parameters can be marked as variants.

The technical implementation of categories, parameters, values, sorting conditions and variant product creation varies according to the type of connection.
Details can be found in the instructions for each connection type:

Category section in the MALL Partner Portal

For more detailed information about the individual categories, please visit the MALL Partner Portal in the section "Category"

You can search directly in the individual sections or by typing in a keyword/category ID.

Important:
The categories in this section directly reflect the layout of the site, so you can search for a suitable category directly on our website.

After searching for a category, you will find the Required Information and Additional Information applicable to that category. As an example, we have chosen the category for Glass Aquariums.

The mandatory data is necessary for the correct categorization of the product and consists of the category ID (SAP ID) and the sorting conditions that are added to the products as parameters, as we have already mentioned in the chapter above.

Important:
The sorting conditions are different for each category, they can be 3 mandatory parameters or none. We therefore recommend to always check the category in this section or via the API.

Failure to comply with the category terms is the most common reason for not displaying a product on the site. Therefore, in case of non-display, always check carefully that you have filled in the category conditions correctly.

So for this example, the following sorting conditions must be used:
NJ034 - ID category

  1. Sorting condition
    AQUARIUM - Parameter ID
    Aquarium - web parameter name
    is equal - condition
Yes - value for the parameter
  2. Sorting conditions
    FINISHING - parameter ID
    Execution - web parameter name
    is equal - condition
glass - value for the parameter

Additional data contains additional parameters that the category contains and can be used.

Important:
Fill in as many parameters as you can, the customer can filter the search results based on these parameters. A product with unassigned parameters is automatically dropped from this search and loses competitiveness.

In the Additional data you can find only the names of the predefined parameters for the category, you can download the complete set of values in XLS or JSON. You can download complete details of the category including conditions, all parameters and values.

You can also view the category on the MALL/Mimovrste website.

Categories section for API connection

For the API connection type, categories can be searched via individual API calls. You can search for the conditions for a given category via endpoint here.

There can be only one Admin within the access accounts to your portal.

In case you have any further questions, you can contact us via Help Centre.
